This Privacy Policy explains how Aihoy! ("Aihoy!", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Aihoy! mobile application and related services (the "Service"). Aihoy! is a strictly 18+ platform. By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. See our Child Safety Standards for details.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is the individual operator of Aihoy!. Contact: [email protected].

2. What data we collect

Account & profile data

• Email address (for sign-in and account recovery)
• Name and/or username, and an optional profile photo
• Birth year — used to confirm you are 18+ and for age-based matching
• Optional profile details you choose to add: nationality, languages, interests, gender, and your preferred style/"vibe"

Location data

• Your approximate GPS location is used to power proximity-based matching (the "Radar") and to show how far trips are from you
• Location is processed while you use these features and with your device-level permission; you can disable it in your device settings

Content you create

• Trips and bookings you create or join, including details such as license information you choose to provide
• Chat messages, message reactions, and connections with other users
• Reports and blocks you submit (used for safety and moderation)

Technical & usage data

• A push-notification token (to deliver notifications to your device)
• Aggregated, non-identifying usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it

3. How we use your data

• To provide the core Service: matching, messaging, trips, bookings
• To keep the platform safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, removing harmful content or accounts
• To send you notifications relevant to your activity (messages, bookings, matches)
• To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service
• To comply with legal obligations

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you sign up for
• Consent — for location access and any optional communications; you can withdraw consent at any time
• Legitimate interests — to keep the platform safe and to improve the Service
• Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law

5. AI-assisted features

Some features use a third-party AI provider (Anthropic, the "Claude" API) to generate short match introductions and to power in-app assistance and message translation. Only the limited data needed for the feature (such as selected profile or mood attributes, or message text to translate) is sent to the provider to produce the result. This data is not used to train the provider's models for general use.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers ("processors") to run the Service:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery
• Anthropic — AI text generation (see section 5)
• Google Analytics — aggregated usage analytics
• Cloudflare — hosting of this website

As part of the social features, other users can see your public profile information (such as your name, photo, and the details you add) and any content you share with them. Your email address and phone number are never shown to other users.

Any payments or donations are handled by external payment providers (such as Revolut). Aihoy! does not store your payment card details.

7. International transfers

Some of our processors operate servers outside your country (including in the EU and the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law or to handle safety reports. You can delete your account at any time — see Delete account.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and database-level access controls. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any issues.

11. Children

Aihoy! is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Accounts found to belong to minors are suspended and deleted. See our Child Safety Standards.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
