Child Safety Standards

Age Restriction

Registration on Aihoy! is open only to people aged 18 and over. Users under the age of 18 are not permitted to register.

At sign-up, users enter their birth year and month. Our server calculates the age and rejects anyone below the minimum age. The birth date can be set only once and cannot be changed later — not even by deleting the account and signing up again with the same email address within 30 days. On Google Play, the app is restricted so that users whom Google has identified as minors cannot find or download it.

As an additional safety net, if an account turns out to belong to someone under 18, the server automatically applies youth-protection rules: the account is kept separate from adults (adults and minors cannot see each other on the Radar or contact each other outside a shared trip), and adults-only trips and adult-only features such as the Secret Bay are blocked. Accounts of anyone under 16 are deleted, and we may remove any account that appears to belong to a minor.

Zero Tolerance for CSAE

Aihoy! has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). We are committed to preventing, detecting, and responding to any content or behavior that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors.

• No content involving minors in a sexual context is permitted under any circumstances
• Any user found sharing, soliciting, or distributing CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) is immediately banned and reported to authorities
• Reported content is reviewed and removed if it breaks our rules
• Suspicious accounts targeting minors are proactively removed

In-App Reporting

Aihoy! provides users with accessible in-app tools to report any content or behavior that raises child safety concerns.

• Every user profile has a Report button accessible from the profile view
• Every chat conversation has a report option
• Reports can be marked as a child-safety concern; these are always decided by a person and handled as urgent. The report form also reminds users to call the emergency number 112 if a child is in immediate danger
• Reports are reviewed promptly by our team
• Reported accounts are investigated and actioned within 24 hours for critical safety issues

Moderation & Prevention

We take proactive steps to prevent child exploitation on our platform:

• Registration requires birth year and month — the server rejects anyone under 18, and the birth date cannot be changed afterwards
• Age-based separation is enforced on our server, not just in the app: adults and minors cannot reach each other on the Radar, in connections or in messages outside a shared trip
• Short public status texts are checked automatically before they are shown to others
• Reported profiles, photos and messages are reviewed, and violating content or accounts are removed. Reports first get an AI-assisted assessment, but serious cases and every child-safety report are decided by a person, and photos from child-safety reports are never sent to the AI provider (see our Privacy Policy, section 5)
• Every user can block anyone at any time
• We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations involving minors

Legal Compliance

Aihoy! complies with all applicable child safety laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

• EU Digital Services Act (DSA) child protection provisions
• GDPR special protections for minors
• Local laws in all jurisdictions where the app is available
